As one of the most sought-after and acclaimed sports performance coaches in the area, and SHU’s very own Director of Hockey Performance, Rob Dombrowski implements the same methods he used while training athletes from the NHL, AHL, NFL, MLB, MLL and various European teams to advance collegiate, high school and youth athletes.

Rob and his highly experienced team of coaches at SHU Sports Performance provide an incredible opportunity for athletes to receive the benefits of training in a motivational group environment while getting the personalized attention needed to elevate their individual performance.

Programs are designed to improve overall athletic performance by focusing on:

  • Building strength and power, while increasing speed and agility.
  • Enhancing mobility and movement capability to help decrease the potential for injury.
  • Energy systems work (steady-state cardio and intervals) to better condition you for your sport.
  • Analysis of frequent performance and functional movement assessments to set personalized goals, track progress and monitor results.

Off-Season Strength & Conditioning Clinic: Summer 2024

It’s common for players to lose 10-30% of their speed along with muscle mass, strength and mobility after a competitive season.

While speed is the cornerstone of our summer training program, the focus is also on gaining functional lean body mass, relative strength and sport-specific mobility to reduce the risk of injury long-term.

Each session is tracked with our TeamBuildr software to ensure there is no option other than improvement.

  • Dates:
    • Summer Phase 1: June 17 – July 19* (*closed July 4th & 5th)
    • Summer Phase II: July 22 – August 23
  • Times: Monday – Friday
    • Elite – (College/HS): 7:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am or 12:00 pm
    • High School : 7:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm or 2:00 pm
    • Middle School: 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm
  • Each athlete receives access to a Teambuildr account and performance results that can be accessed at any time to assess progress.
  • Open to middle school, high school and collegiate athletes of all genders and skill levels.
  • Athletes will be placed into smaller groups based on age to better suit the individual needs of each athlete and allow for greater specificity of training techniques.

Speed Foundation Clinic: Spring 2024

Create the foundation for a hard summer of training with intensive sprint and skating technique improvements.

Sessions will focus on improving mobility, speed and speed-specific strength to ensure you hit the ground running for summer-training.

2024 Professional Athlete Private Training
  • 1-on-1 training for professional athletes with individualized programming based on sport, position and/or training goal.
  • A customized program is created for each athlete and is constantly refined based on continued assessment to track progress over time.
  • Every athlete undergoes an in-depth assessment to identify joint integrity, mobility, movement capacity, and performance testing.
  • Nutritional consultations are available upon request to attain a holistic approach to ultimate health and fitness.

2024 Professional Athlete Semi-Private Training
  • 2-4 athletes per group.
  • Individualized programming designed to suit the needs of each athlete with the motivational aspect of training in a group to challenge and support each other throughout the workout.
  • All semi-private training clients will receive an in-depth consultation to discuss healthy history and a full-body performance and injury prevention assessment.
