Protocols & Information
Parking
The team bus will park by the loading dock (first driveway on right next to arena). Other team vehicles may arrange parking behind the rink using the same access road.
Unloading Bus
Please arrange with the SHU hockey equipment director in advance of trip. Bus can pull up to loading dock and come through doors at ice and locker room level.
Locker Room
Towels and toiletries will be provided, and laundry service is available with advance notice. We also provide a skate sharpening machine and an oven along with glove dryers. There are separate rooms for the coaches and athletic trainers for privacy away from the locker area.
Sports Medicine
Standard Supplies: Treatment table, Combo modality unit (estim/US), exercise bike, Hydroc with pad covers, cooler with ice and bags, Two 10-gallon coolers with ice water, cups, bench towels, biohazard container.
Emergency Supplies: The following are available on the home bench or in the main athletic training room:
Vacuum Splints, AED, crutches, suture and IV supplies, tracheotomy supplies, scoop stretcher
Personnel: ATC and possibly an AT student for practices and games. On gamedays an ambulance and crew will be present, and a physician will be present at men’s games
Off-ice Warmup
Teams may use the main concourse for stretching or ball kicking (sewy). There is also ample space in the hallway, immediately outside the visitor’s locker room, for stretching only (no sewy). However, doors open for fans one hour prior to puck drop, so the concourse needs to be clear by the time the 60-minute countdown begins on the clock.
Press Box
Visiting coaches, along with their operations director, will have their own booth with a TV monitor and a tablet to access SHU’s PlaySight video system.
Interviews
Visiting head coaches should expect a post-game interview in SHU’s video room (ice level). The visiting team coaches and players (when applicable) will be interviewed first, followed by the home team. SHU TV productions may also request a pre-game interview. The SHU hockey communications contacts will let their counterparts know the plan.
Meeting Parents Post-Game
The parents of visiting teams can meet their sons and daughters in the front of the arena near the main entrance. This enables visiting players to use the stairwell closest to their locker room.
Post-Game Meals
Lisa Tammone (Chartwells) handles food operations at MFA. Please contact her if you would like to order post-game meals prepared on campus and delivered to the bus.
